Emmanuel... assemblies for Christmas
A musical and dramatic retelling of the Christmas story
Mark Baxter
Barnabas RE Days can offer a full (or occasionally a half) day's programme to your school to explore Christianity creatively with primary-aged children through storytelling, drama, dance or music, according to the skills of the professional Barnabas team member.
A Barnabas RE Day, including some suggested themes, might run along these lines:
09.00 Whole school assembly
09.30 Foundation - workshop
10.00 Year 1 - workshop
10.30 Break
10.45 Year 2 - workshop
11.15 Year 3 - workshop
12.00 Lunch
13.00 Year 4 - workshop
13.50 Year 5 - workshop
14.40 Year 6 - workshop
The lengths of the workshop sessions can be adjusted to fit in with the school day.
We can accommodate up to 30-35 children in any session. This enables the children to have the best opportunity to engage with the interactive activities. Children must be accompanied by a member of the school staff at all times.
The sessions use different creative arts, according to the strengths of the Barnabas team member undertaking your booking, and include storytelling, music, dance, mime or drama. The material is based on Bible stories, contemporary life illustrations and shared experience.
Barnabas works with the following themes:
You are welcome to select one or two of the themes for your day. You may choose to follow the same theme with all classes or to choose different themes for KS 1 & 2.
