Sharing Life through Advent

Christmas can be a season fraught with activity and busyness. As we move towards celebrating Christ's birth, Sharing Life through Advent is the ideal way to organize the season of preparation and make the important countdown to Christmas more meaningful and exciting.

This book is packed with ideas to share with children in Junior Church, all-age services, or collective worship in primary schools. There is also a special section to help create a Christ-centred focus within the home and a set of reflective notes for adults.

The material, which covers all three years of the Revised Common Lectionary, is designed for either daily or weekly use. It offers a special focus on the Bible and the Advent candle, and provides a wide range of activities to explore the four-fold themes of story, symbol, sharing and remembering which lie at the heart of Advent. The material was originally developed as an Advent pack for Oxford diocese, based on Year A of the Lectionary readings.

Jenny Hyson is the Children's Adviser for Oxford diocese and a published children's author. In her role as diocesan adviser she is well known for the creative material she produces for training and worship with children in mind.

Canon David Winter is a writer, broadcaster and contributor to BRF's New Daylight Bible reading notes. He is also a series editor for the People's Bible Commentary series and has written a number of books for BRF.
