Living Church

School trips offer many opportunities for creative learning, but often overlook that treasure house of history, faith and culture available on the doorstep: the local church. The Living Church project is designed to unite the local church with its local schools and unlock the building and the community it represents as an interactive learning resource for children in Years 2-6. The material teaches children about all the major topics associated with the Christian church, including baptism, the Bible, prayer, Holy Communion, music, marriage, funerals, vestments, the churchyard, the worldwide Church and the Christian calendar. The resource includes storytelling scripts for teachers, photocopiable worksheets for children and instructions to construct a model of a typical parish church.

Murray McBride trained as an evangelist with the Church of England's Church Army and for over ten years led national missions and supported local churches in their outreach to the community. Recognised for his use of creative evangelism, Murray was presented with the Cuthbert Bardsley award. He has written several evangelistic leaflets and is the author of a faith-sharing training book, Lifesavers. Responding to God's call, he trained further at Trinity Theological College Bristol and is now an ordained minister in the Anglican Church. Murray is author of Walking with Jesus through Advent and Christmas, which was published by Barnabas in September 2005.
